According to reports, the 80-year-old accused, William, “only received 20 days in jail for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl” after entering a guilty plea. The defendant’s penalty achieves the parents’ objectives, according to district attorney John, who claimed to have verified with the parents. William is also prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition, in addition to paying a $2,000 fine and $1,965 in court expenses, according to court documents.
However, a lot of people were perplexed by the punishment that had just been imposed on a serial se* offender. District Attorney John explained to the judge that the victim’s parents wanted him to register as a se* offender and that their daughter not be obliged to give a testimony during the sentence hearing. The sentence was a component of a plea agreement that gave the defendant a reduced prison term in exchange for a decade of probation. His child se* offenses will be erased from his record if he successfully completes his probation without encountering any more problems. This incredibly lenient sentence is highly unusual for the type of offense for which wise was found guilty. Most convicted child molesters are sentenced to jail for up to 30 years.
Evidently, the judge hearing his case did not want to sentence William to life in prison. Because of this, many are unsure if justice was actually served in this instance given the relatively light penalty. The girl’s family did not want to subject her to the ordeal of testifying in court after she had been molested by William. The family did this in an effort to keep him from obtaining the media attention that comes with a high-profile child molestation case.
